Arsenal have been keen to sign Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan this month, and could get a another chance to get a deal done.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say Papu Gomez’s arrival in Seville has changed Jordan’s situation at the club.
Jordan was linked with a move to the Emirates earlier this month, with it believed Mikel Arteta was on the hunt for a creative midfielder, and it now appears their interest was serious.
Ultimately the move didn’t happen and Calciomercato.it say this was because of Sevilla’s demands, with the Spanish club wanting €30m for their man.
That has forced Arsenal to ‘give up’ on a deal, but their interest in him is a long-standing and hasn’t completely gone away.
According to the website, they could now be given a second shot, with it explained that his situation at Sevilla is ‘evolving’.
His contract expires in 2023, and if the two parties don’t agree on a renewal in the coming months, the Andalusians could decide to deprive themselves of him and sanction a move.
Several Italian clubs, Inter, AC Milan, Napoli and Roma, have all already asked about his situation but they are all also aware of the ‘long courtship’ by Arsenal.
The move is very much one that could now happen in the summer depending on contract negotiations, and something to keep an eye on in the coming months as they develop.
