Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has asked the club to sign both Real Madrid’s Isco and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar in an attempt to ‘revitalise’ his team.
That’s according to Defensa Central, who say that the Spaniard has been informed that the club can only afford one of the players after signing Thomas Partey from Atlético Madrid in the summer.
Isco is desperate to leave Real Madrid in January as he does not feel ‘comfortable’ under Zinedine Zidane and has made it clear he wants to leave.
Madrid are ‘fighting thick and thin’ to find offers for him, and one of them could come from Arsenal, with Arteta keen to freshen things up in the middle of the park.
Defensa Central explain that the reality is finding a club for Isco has been hard as he is insisting that he will not lower his €6m a year (likely after tax) wage packet.
No club is willing to offer such an amount, particularly in these difficult financial times and so there are no ‘firm suitors’ for him at this moment in time.
The Premier League is a likely destination as the ‘good economy’ of the league means there are options there and Arsenal are the latest to ask about his situation as he would be cheaper than Aouar, who is younger so more expensive.
However, it depends on what Arteta wants for his midfield, a decision he is yet to make his mind up over fully.
