Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze has emerged as a target for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, as per a report from Spain.
The winger has scored three goals and registered four assists from 20 matches this term. Despite not having impressive statistics, his profile has ‘always attracted the Gunners’ and other Premier League sides due to the 23-year-old’s pace and versatility.
That’s according to Fichajes.net, who state Arsenal are ‘interested’ in signing the 23-year-old.
Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are the first-choice wingers currently at Arteta’s disposal.
The Spaniard wants to bring in an ‘unbalancing winger’, to mainly to provide cover and competition for both Martinelli and Saka. This is where the Nigeria international fits in and he could be an option for the north London club.
It’s claimed Arteta is a ‘fan’ of Chukwueze’s playing style and sees the player as ‘ideal’ for his plans at Arsenal.
The attacker has over 18 months left on his current deal with the La Liga side. According to the report, there is a possibility for Chukwueze can leave Villarreal for around €40m next summer.
As well as the Villarreal player, Fichajes.net mention Arsenal have other options.
