On May 20th, we covered claims made by Kicker that Arsenal are eyeing a summer move for Julian Brandt as their interest in the Borussia Dortmund player is ‘persistent’.

Fussball Transfers on Monday have a short update and they state the Gunners are ‘interested’ in the 25-year-old.

FT provided their original information about Mikel Arteta’s side in a report, that relayed claims made by Ruhr Nachrichten that several of the players will be allowed to leave Dortmund this summer.

BVB will have to raise funds through player sales before making further new additions to the squad. It’s explained new signings this summer ‘largely depends on the transfer revenues’ the Bundesliga side can achieve.

While Dortmund are working to raise big money through Jadon Sancho’s sale, they are also planning to cut their salary budget by getting expensive players off their books.

Ruhr Nachrichten discuss the north London club’s interest in Brandt and state: ‘After Brandt’s difficult season, it remains to be seen whether an interest of Arsenal in Brandt, in connection with an appropriate transfer fee will materialise’.

The local newspaper are of the belief Arsenal could ‘rely on the time factor’, meaning they could consider making an approach later in the summer transfer window.
