Arsenal have already sent scouts to closely follow Rasmus Højlund in action for Atalanta.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who state the Gunners have been interested in the 20-year-old for a month.
Arsenal keeping tabs on the forward is also mentioned by Tutto Atalanta when they discuss his debut season in Serie A. He has scored eight goals and registered two assists from 25 matches in all competitions.
Højlund starred for Denmark by scoring a hat-trick in their 3-1 victory over Finland in the European qualifiers on Thursday. This has further helped him draw attention from several clubs across the continent.
Tutto Atalanta name Arsenal and Napoli as the clubs chasing the Denmark international as they are looking for an attacker.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have not received proposals for him. The report says ‘it’s clear’ Atalanta are waiting, and have set a base price of at least €40-45m to start an auction for the attacker.
Earlier this week, the same website explained Mikel Arteta’s side are ‘willing to shell out’ €50m to secure Højlund’s services. With Atalanta now setting a starting price of at least €40m, Arsenal could get the deal for a lower fee.
This could come as encouragement for Arsenal in their chase for Højlund.
