Juventus youngster Dean Huijsen has ended up in the sights of Arsenal, according to a report coming out of Italy today.
The Serie A side took the 17-year-old from Malaga in 2021 and initially included him in their U17 squad, before promoting him to the U19 side. Operating in the heart of the defence, he has scored six goals from 14 matches for Juve U19 this season.
Massimiliano Allegri handed the defender an opportunity to feature for the Turin club’s first team in their latest friendly win over Rijeka on Thursday. Huijsen’s display left the manager impressed.
Calciomercato claim the Netherlands U18 international’s idol is Matthijs de Ligt, who left the Old Lady for Bayern Munich in the summer window.
Huijsen has also been compared to his compatriot and is dubbed as the ‘new De Ligt’, and now has an ‘uncertain future’ at the club.
The teenager’s deal expires in 2024, while his performances and profile have attracted interest from Arsenal.
Apart from the Gunners, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also keeping tabs on him.
For now, there is no reason for Juventus to worry, but they must act quick in the coming months in order to secure Huijsen’s long-term future, or they could end up facing a difficult time keeping him with so much interest in him.
