Manchester United and Newcastle United are accompanied by Arsenal in the race to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

On May 12th, Il Mattino stated the north London club are ‘serious’ about the 23-year-old. It was also explained the Serie A side have denied reports of the Gunners making a €100m plus offer for the striker.

Claims made by them about Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen are relayed by Sport Mediaset, who then go on to provide their own information on this case.

They state the frontman is closely followed by clubs in England, in particular from Arsenal, who are the ‘most interested club of all’.

Luciano Spalletti’s side have qualified for next season’s Champions League and therefore, they don’t have to sell players ‘at all costs’. However, Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli will have to work on reducing the wage bill.

Osimhen earns a gross annual salary of €9m and it is ‘less worrying’ when compared to the €13m gross per year offered to 30-year-old Kalidou Koulibaly.

Naples chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis’ ‘strategy’ has been ‘clear’ and it is to sell the ex-Lille man if there is a ‘huge offer’ in excess of €100m.

Arsenal are the ‘most interested’ club to sign Osimhen, but it is not made clear whether or not they are willing to invest €100m plus to secure his services.

With these figures, Sport Mediaset state his future could only lead to the Premier League, where Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur should not be discarded.
