Arsenal are the current front runners for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, while Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson is also on their list.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the Gunners could be eyeing up a double raid on the Bundesliga come the summer.
They report that Arsenal had Sesko on their list in the January transfer window, with reports in England stating that Leipzig wanted €130m.
This was wide of the mark as now request was made by the German side and Sesko would not have been allowed to leave anyway. But that can change in the summer.
That’s because when Sesko recently extended his contract until 2029 it included a gentleman’s agreement that the can leave during the summer for €70m.
That’s not a fixed clause, though, and Leipzig are hoping for a bidding war to break out so that the fee rises to around €100m.
Arsenal are the still considered the ‘hottest contender’ for him, but AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Chelea and Real Madrid are all keeping a close eye on him too. Arsenal, then, will need to beat competition to get him and the same can be said of Larsson.
According to SportBILD he is also on the list of clubs around Europe and the Gunners are one of those who are keen.
They state that Larsson’s development with Eintracht Frankfurt hasn’t gone unnoticed and Arsenal are one of the clubs who are watching him.
The German side are open to a deal if they can get €50m or more, although they have advised the player to stay for another year to get ‘better competitive strength’. His development has been somewhat slowed by persistent muscular injuries, and they feel another year could help alleviate that.
That could be taken out of their hands, though, if the likes of Arsenal come and put money on the table that they simply can’t refuse.
It remains to be seen if they will do so, of course, but Larsson and Sesko are very much on their list ahead of the summer transfer window.
