Last week, Ademola Lookman asked to be excluded from Atalanta’s squad ahead of a game against Lecce.
Earlier this week, he skipped training as Paris Saint-Germain were said to be probing a move after making contact with his entourage.
After PSG’s interest faded away, Arsenal’s interest emerged and we covered Alfredo Pedulla’s report about that. It was mentioned that the Gunners were going to make an offer for the Nigerian.
TMW have now reported that while the talk was that Arsenal would insert Jakub Kiwior in the move for Lookman, they do not want to let the defender go – especially in exchange.
On top of that, Lookman returned to training yesterday and the player will have his current deal improved.
And Arsenal ‘never made’ an offer for Lookman and they won’t do so in the near future. Only a huge figure can force Atalanta into selling the player, and it feels Gunners interest has been overstated.
All of this suggests that Arsenal were used in the situation, perhaps by the player’s entourage to help that new contract along.
