Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow has hailed Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, believing he can learn from the player’s comeback at the Emirates.

Xhaka has had a difficult time of things at Arsenal since arriving from Borussia Mönchengladbach in a £40.5m deal.

Last season was his most difficult to date as he publicly clashed with the Gunners faithful during a poor performance against Crystal Palace.

That saw the Switzerland star angrily react to the fans booing him off the pitch, a decision which was criticised by then manager Unai Emery, who later stripped him of the Arsenal captaincy.

It looked like the midfielder would be shipped out after that, but he has since rebuilt his career under Emery’s replacement Mikel Arteta, featuring regularly under the Spaniard since his arrival at the club.

That’s something that Sow has been left impressed by, particularly given his own struggles at his club.

“Granit also had a difficult time at Arsenal. Nevertheless, he came out strong. I can learn something from that,” he told Fussball.News.

“Above all, as a personality, as a leader, Xhaka is a role model.

“He brings a presence to the square that I haven’t seen often before.

“It would help every young player to play alongside him. He coaches a lot, including me. That helps a lot, of course.”
