Following a couple of reports from December claiming Arsenal were interested in Ibrahima Bamba from Vitória Guimarães, this story gets an interesting update today.
That comes from Jornal de Notícias, who claim the Gunners seem to be ‘on the front line’ to sign the defender.
It’s claimed that even though the player draws the interest from several European clubs, it’s Arsenal who’ve been ‘tightening the siege’ for his transfer.
According to Jornal de Notícias, the chances of an ‘imminent transfer’ gained strength because of the presence of the representative from FMA Sports in London.
The newspaper points out Bamba is protected by a €30m release clause, in a contract until 2026, but doesn’t say how much it’d take to sign him from Vitória Guimarães.
The youngster is an important player for his club, having 23 appearances for them this season, and became a versatile solution. That’s because he’s been playing both as a central defender and as a defensive midfielder.
Since that wouldn’t be a huge investment for Arsenal, it’d be interesting to see the Gunners betting on that kind of signing.
