Arsenal are competing with Paris Saint Germain to sign Real Betis defender Emerson Royal this summer

That’s according to AS, who say the two sides are the ones to have ‘confirmed their interest’ in signing the Brazilian.

Emerson has been heavily linked with a move this summer, having continued to impress at Real Betis, who part-own him alongside Barcelona.

He’s set to move to the Nou Camp in the summer for €3m, with it believed the Catalan giants are keen to sell him on and make a tidy profit from the deal.

Arsenal have been named as one of the interested parties on more than one occasion, and reports this week have continued that theme.

First, Radio Castellón stated that they are eyeing Emerson as a replacement for Hector Bellerín, while Mundo Deportivo confirmed today that Arsenal are among a long list of suitors.

AS now pick up on that and explain that it is ‘highly unlikely’ Emerson will remain at Betis this summer because the offers from top clubs ‘are flooding in’.

PSG and Arsenal are the two clubs who have ‘confirmed their interest’ in signing him, although their belief is that a deal is hard for the Gunners to get done.

They sat that their ‘financial problems’ mean it would be ‘difficult’ for them to put the €25m that Barcelona want on the table.

That figure is so high because Barça have to share the money with Betis as part of the original agreement that brought Emerson to Spain.

Either way, Arsenal’s interest is seemingly growing in Emerson, although it all appears to be dependant on them raising funds for a deal, perhaps by selling Bellerín first.
