On May 31st, Het Belang van Limburg reported Arsenal are one of the clubs in the picture to sign PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakayoko in the summer window.
The winger managed 14 goals and 14 assists from 48 games last season, and was a key part of PSV’s title winning squad. He hasn’t yet had an important role for Belgium at the Euros.
That hasn’t stopped the 21-year-old from being popular in the market as Arsenal are keen on signing him, according to Tuesday’s edition of Gazet van Antwerpen.
Bakayoko has been linked to Liverpool and Bayern Munich recently, but at the moment, the Gunners are the ‘most concrete’ track.
Arsenal are searching for an attacker who can fit into Mikel Arteta’s system.
The north London club haven’t agreed a deal yet, either with Bakayoko and PSV. Gazet van Antwerpen say this case could ‘evolve positively’, indicating Arsenal could make progress to bring the attacker to the Emirates.
It’s claimed PSV will need €45m to sanction Bakayoko’s sale this summer. He’s currently with the national team and they are hoping a potential deal would take place after the Euros.
