As things stand, Arsenal have yet to make an official purchase in the transfer market.
It’s still very early days, and Ben White appears to be on his way to the Emirates once the Euros come to an end, but more will be expected to come as Mikel Arteta revamps his squad following a disappointing 2020-21 campaign.
One of the areas that could do with fresh blood is up top, with some doubts surrounding the long-term futures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, as both have now entered their thirties.
A name that has been thrown around as a target is that of Andrea Belotti, who will be part of the Italy squad to face England on Sunday at the Euros final.
Mostly used as a backup for Ciro Immobile, the Torino striker is also edging towards the end of his contract with the Serie A side, which is forcing them into a decision.
Recently appointing Ivan Juric as their new manager, the Turin side have made a decision about their star striker, which is that they are open to selling him.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who explain a decision will need to be made by the player himself once the Euros are over, which will be between renewing his contract or leaving.
Should he choose the latter, he will likely have a main cheerleader in Rome, where José Mourinho, now manager of AS Roma, is a big fan.
Not only that, but he has ‘many suitors abroad’, with ‘Arsenal above all’.
Urbano Cairo, the club’s owner, is said to have ‘fixed Belotti’s transfer price at €35m’, which is far from the demands he was making a while back.
Either way, there aren’t expected to be any discounts on that above price, so Arsenal know what to do if they want the Italian striker.
