Normally all about Neal Maupay with his goalscoring, Brentford have found a new star in Said Benrahma, who stepped up against Hull City by scoring a hat-trick.

The winger, with the three goals, took his tally to seven in the league alongside his 12 assists, and this form has not gone unnoticed.

Much like the French striker, the Algeria international has attracted interest from the Premier League, and Le Buteur, although mentioning the news of interest originally came from English papers, seem to claim from their own information that Arsenal and Chelsea are two of the clubs keeping an eye on him.

Bought from Nice in the summer for just over £1.5m, the 23-year-old would represent a great opportunity for the Bees to make a profit come the end of the season should they so wish too.

With Brentford looking unlikely to make the playoffs for Premier League promotion this season (even if there are 14 games left to play), the summer could prove a challenging time if they want to keep both Benrahma and Maupay at the club for the next campaign.

Arsenal made it clear with their January chase for Ivan Perisic that a winger would be welcome at the Emirates, while Chelsea are bracing themselves for more changes, especially if Eden Hazard decides he finally wants to try something new.

We are by no means stating Benrahma would replace the Belgian, but with the Blues likely to only have the summer (as the appeal will probably push their transfer ban back a window) to recruit for the next year or so, they might end up having a very busy few months ahead of them.

As for Arsenal, the Brentford player would surely be one of the cheaper options on their transfer wishlist, and looking at how cash strapped they appeared in January, he might very well end up crawling up the list.

A lot depends on the Championship side and their demands, of course, but if clubs of the Gunners’ or Chelsea’s stature come knocking for their players, they might end up being powerless.

We’ll keep an eye on this.
