Arsenal and Chelsea should now be added to the long list of clubs who have been keeping an eye on the Benfica youngster João Félix.
That’s because as reported by Portuguese newspaper Record today, the Gunners and the Blues both watched the player’s fantastic performance for the Eagles last night.
Félix has scored a hat-trick in the 4-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, giving Benfica a big lead in the Europa League quarter finals.
Record writes that Arsenal and Chelsea were among the ‘sharks’ who went to the Estádio da Luz to watch the youngster, and are now part of the competition to take him from Lisbon.
Although Félix is one of the most wanted youngsters in Europe, we hadn’t seen the London sides getting linked to him since his debut for the club.
Currently protected by a €120m release clause, the teenager has 15 goals and seven assists for the Eagles this season.
Now being the youngest Benfica player to score a hat-trick in an European competition, Félix should attract an even bigger battle for him in the summer.
Chelsea have been linked repeatedly in the past, but their interest depends on the outcome of the transfer ban saga. Arsenal scout Benfica regularly, so that could be why they’re pulled into the picture.
