Arsenal are interested in a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt as Mikel Arteta looks to add more creativity to his midfield.

That’s according to Bild journalist Christian Falk, who says a move is more likely to happen in the summer than January transfer window.

Arsenal are believed to be on the hunt for a new midfielder, with Arteta keen to add extra creativity to a side that has been sorely lacking in it, and goals, in the first half of the season.

That has seen the Gunners linked with moves for several creative players, with Real Madrid’s Isco and Sevilla’s Joan Jordan thought to be on their list of potential targets.

It seems their focus is not solely on Spain, though, with Dortmund’s Brandt also having been named as a potential target.

That rumour is true, according to Falk, who says the Gunners have already made moves behind the scenes to make a transfer happen.

“We know that the scouts have already made important moves and the club is also actively discussing it in the dressing room,” he told BILD.

“It’s no secret that they don’t feel Julian Brandt is as valued at Dortmund as he imagined he would be when he made the transfer.

“Whether a transfer will take place is still a bit open, the winter (January) is perhaps a bit too short notice so it could be a summer thing.

“We also know he has connections (at Arsenal), youth director Per Mertesacker has the same agents as him, and he is a bit tempted to come to London. I could very well imagine it coming true.”
