It seems the career of former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could have taken a completely different turn back in 2020.
That was revealed by intermediary George Gardi, who in an interview with Italian newspaper Il Tiempo (via Calcio Mercato), claimed that the player could have moved to Paris Saint Germain.
According to the agent, Aubameyang got close to a move to the French side, and it was Arsenal who turned the sale down.
“At international level, I would have liked to bring Hazard from Chelsea to Juventus in 2019 and Aubameyang from Arsenal to PSG in 2020,” Gardi told Il Tiempo.
“Despite some hesitation, he decided for Real, while for Aubameyang I was already on the plane to London when Arsenal blocked the deal.”
Aumabeyang joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, and left for Barcelona for free four years later. While at the Gunners, he had 92 goals and 21 assists in 163 appearances.
The striker stayed at the Camp Nou side until last summer, when he was sold to Chelsea for €12m. But with the 33-year-old not being of much use for Blues’ boss Graham Potter lately, there are now new links about his return to Spain, as he visited his old club and is reportedly keen on making a return there, even if that means having to cut his current wages.
