Arsenal defender William Saliba has been blocked from playing in the Olympic games with France this summer.
That’s according to Le Parisien, who say Arsenal have no interest in letting the defender join up with the U23’s for the tournament.
The newspaper covers various senior French players today and how they are unlikely to be a part of the squad for the Olympics this summer.
Their focus is on Antoine Griezmann, who despite making it clear he would like to take part, will not be as Atletico Madrid are blocking him from doing so.
He’s been making it clear for more than a year that he wants to be in the squad but, so far, the Spanish side have refused to change their stance and let him take part.
It’s a similar story elsewhere, with Thierry Henry unlikely to be able to count on any players who are heading to Euro 2024.
That includes William Saliba, who has been included in the group but will be ‘blocked by Arsenal’ from joining up and will not be a part of the Games in Paris.
Whether Saliba plans to try and change that as Griezmann is doing isn’t mentioned, but at this point it seems the Gunners are insistent it will be one tournament for him this summer, and that’s Euro 2024 in Germany.
