Fabio Vieira joined FC Porto on loan from Arsenal in the summer. After a slow start to life in Portugal, the midfielder’s performances started picking up.

He has five goals and four assists in all competitions so far and has played in a variety of positions for the club. The Portuguese giants have clearly been left convinced by his abilities.

A Bola today report that Porto want to keep the 24-year-old in the summer and they want to sign him on another loan deal. That possibility remains quite difficult because of Arsenal’s own intentions.

The Gunners want to sell and recoup the €35m they spent on him.

This will not be feasible for Porto, who will have to be very ‘surgical’ and particular with a loan offer to have a chance of striking another loan agreement.

This will only be possible if Arsenal are guaranteed that Vieira will take a wage cut, so that the London giants do not have to bear too much burden of his salary.

This is said to be a pretty remote possibility and Porto’s hopes of keeping the versatile midfielder are fading away.
