Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for Memphis Depay, with Monday’s edition of Sport mentioning the Gunners in an article on the player’s future.

The Dutchman joined Barcelona from Lyon as a free agent, and even at the time of the move there were doubts about his long term future with the Blaugrana.

Depay was seen as a market opportunity, and someone who could be sold for a profit if things didn’t work out.

The 28-year-old clearly didn’t get the memo, and started the season in great goalscoring form, playing upfront for Barca. Things changed midway through the campaign, with Depay losing prominence, match time and goals.

He finished the season with 13 goals from 37 appearances.

Sport say Arsenal, along with Juventus, ‘have asked’ about signing the player. Xavi Hernandez is currently holding off a transfer because he wants an attacking signing in before letting Depay go.

In the event of a sale, it’s believed Barcelona can ‘easily’ get more than €20m.
