Arsenal have been in touch with Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov’s entourage about a possible move this summer.
That’s according to AS, who say the Gunners could be set for a battle with AC Milan for the Ukrainian winger.
The newspaper reports that Tsygankov currently finds himself ‘in the world showcase’ after impressing for Girona last season, with eight goals and seven assists in 30 games key to them qualifying for the Champions League.
That’s led to interest in him and while he’s focused on Euro 2024 he’s told his agent not to bother him with transfer talk, but clubs are moving behind the scenes.
They’ve been told that if the player is to depart Girona, which is by no means a certainty as he’s made it clear previously that he’s more than happy with the Spanish club, he will need Champions League football. That’s something Arsenal can absolutely offer.
Girona, for their part, would prefer to keep hold of the winger and began talks in January to extend his deal and increase his release clause, which is set at €30m.
That never reached a conclusion, though, as the player wanted to focus on the rest of the season with Girona and now the likes of Arsenal are lurking.
According to AS, Mikel Arteta is ‘in love with the player’ and believes he could fit perfectly into Arsenal’s current set up, hence the approach to his agents and potential move in the coming weeks.
