On January 12th, both Sport 1 journalist Patrick Berger and Bild’s Christian Falk reported about Manchester United’s interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria.

It was explained the Red Devils have made an offer to the midfielder, and Ralf Rangnick, along with Matt Judge, have had ‘good talks’ with his agent. United are not the only club in the chase for 25-year-old as they are now joined by Arsenal.

That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who first relay claims made by Sport1 and Bild and then explain that ‘Arsenal are also involved’.

Apart from the Gunners and United, Borussia Dortmund are in the picture as it’s stated the Switzerland international’s camp have already held talks with BVB.

Zakaria has already entered his final six months of his contract and is free to talk to clubs outside Germany for a potential free transfer next summer. Mönchengladbach, however, would prefer to sell the player in the winter market for a fee of around €6-7m.

Manchester United have made an offer for Zakaria, but the involvement of Mikel Arteta’s side could see Arsenal scupper the Old Trafford club’s plans for the midfielder.
