Once hotly courted by Manchester United, it’s now Arsenal who are seen as the favourites to land Sergej Milinković-Savić going forward.
The Gunners have been linked time and time again with the player, whose contract expires next summer, meaning the upcoming transfer window is the last chance for Lazio to make serious money from a sale.
Arsenal seem prepared to go ahead with a deal if previous reports are to be believed, and while he turned them down in the past, the change of fortunes under Mikel Arteta of late has changed his mind a bit, with Il Messaggero, relayed by Lazio Press, pointing out how the London side are still lurking.
It’s said that the Premier League is ‘seriously attracting’ the player, who appears to be put off by Juventus’ off the field issues, and Arsenal have ‘already tested the waters’.
Regarding the fee, it’s said that Lazio would want Piotr Zielinski as a replacement, who would himself cost €40m or so.
That’s described ‘as may as would come in with the sale of Milinković-Savić’, meaning that’s the amount needed by Arsenal.
With the Serbian having ‘no intention of renewing in Rome’, this is as good of a chance as ever for the Gunners if they are really intent on acquiring the player.
