Atlético Madrid could make another effort to sign Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette, and the striker is interested in the move.

That’s according to La Razón, who say the Frenchman is a potential replacement for Diego Costa, whose contract with the Spanish club is expiring next summer.

Lacazette is a long-term target for Atlético, with them having targeted the player before he joined Arsenal from Lyon in 2017.

They’ve continued to be linked in the three years since, with a report back in September claiming that Atlético remained keen to secure his signature and that Lacazette was ‘delighted’ by the interest.

La Razón pick up on that today and state that the Arsenal forward has appeared as a ‘possible replacement’ for Diego Costa once again.

They explain that Diego Simeone ‘loves’ Lacazette and the striker ‘welcomes’ the idea of heading to La Liga but has not be able to do so in the past due to Arsenal’s ‘high claims’ for a transfer.

However, that situation ‘will change next summer’ because, at that point, he will only have one year left on his deal at the Emirates and so their ‘pretensions’ could be lower.

That is something Atlético ‘would be willing to take advantage of’ so that they could finally get a player they’ve long been trying to sign.
