When Panos Armenakas was just 7 years old he was linked to several of Europe’s biggest football clubs, and Bolton Wanderers.
The young footballer was causing quite a stir in Australia and clubs wanted to know what all the fuss was about.
Despite the lofty links, Armenakas signed for Italy’s Brescia as a 13 year old. He only spent a year there before moving to England and signing up with Watford’s youth system.
From there, Armenakas moved to Udinese in 2014, a club with the same owners as Watford. The Pozzo family often see over transfers which involve Watford and Udinese.
That’s a confusing start to a career, but Armenakas has an interesting back story. Born in the US, his family moved to Austrlia, who he’s represented at youth level. However, he’s also represented Greece at youth level, having triple nationality.
That helps on the work permit front, meaning Armenakas wouldn’t have to be registered as a non EU player.
Italy’s Tuttomercatoweb say Arsenal are interested in the playmaker, who is now 18 years of age. He’s making his way at the senior level, and showing that the early promise is starting to be fulfilled.
