Aston Villa are firmly in the race for Bologna’s Jonathan Rowe and have hope of a summer deal.

The attacker joined the Italian side from Marseille last summer. After a slow start, he became an important part of Vincenzo Italiano’s system, contributing to eight goals and five assists. All of those have come in 2026, with the player also shining in the Europa League.

Sport Witness have covered how Aston Villa are interested in the winger, with Chelsea also in the race.

The idea of a summer sale is now increasingly gaining traction in Italy.

Rowe’s price tag clear

TuttoBolognaWeb have taken a deep look at possible exits from the club this summer. They have failed to qualify for Europe and this can lead to departures, with Rowe’s future looking uncertain.

The outlet confirm that Aston Villa ‘are on his trail’ and so are Galatasaray. Other Premier League teams are also in the race, with Bologna needing ‘around €40m’ to execute his sale.

That is the amount Unai Emery’s side will need to start negotiations. It is an indication that the price tag can go higher, considering the number of suitors in the chase.

Bologna’s failure to qualify for Europe is a dictating factor behind this. They have played in the Europa League this season and featured in the Champions League in the previous campaign. They are now set to miss out on important finances and may not have an option but to sell a key player.

Villans have golden opportunity

It seems like Rowe has picked up form at the right time in Italy. Bologna want to capitalise on that and make the most from his sale, especially as Premier League clubs can easily afford around €40m.

They have found success with the sales of Dan Ndoye, Riccardo Calafiori and Joshua Zirkzee in the last two campaigns. All of their sales were at around €40m too.

While Jhon Lucumi will also depart, his value has dropped quite a bit due to his contract, which expires in 2027. Rowe’s current deal runs out in 2029, making him a much more important sale for Bologna.
