Even though Arne Slot is expected to leave Feyenoord for Liverpool this summer, he’s still concerned about the future of the Dutch side.
Following his club’s match at the weekend, he spoke to Algemeen Dagblad about the team on the pitch and the players who have a future there.
The coach made it clear that Feyenoord need to keep most of their stars for the next season, regardless of who replaces him once he walks towards Liverpool. The quotes come from Soccer News.
“When I left AZ, you saw the same football there as before during the first half of the season. But is that hopeful? In my opinion, Feyenoord should mainly ensure that as few players leave as possible. Then many players will be able to do this with their eyes closed for the next six months,” said Slot.
“You saw today that we made a different choice than PSV. We have mainly attracted players for positions twelve to twenty.”
Covering the quotes, Soccer News even feature a poll asking whether their readers expect Feyenoord to ‘collapse’ following Slot’s departure from the club.
With the manager prioritising long-term work at the Dutch side, that should give Liverpool fans an idea of what to expect about his transfer policy at Anfield as well, assuming he gets some say.
As recently said by Slot himself, it shouldn’t take long until the Reds confirm his arrival.
