Even though reports from the Portuguese media this morning claimed Chelsea had been backing down in their pursuit for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez, the Argentine press insists that the transfer could happen in the coming days.
A new story from journalist Cesar Luis Merlo claims that the player’s move to the Stamford Bridge has now entered a ‘key’ phase, as an outcome is ‘expected’ in the next 48 to 72 hours.
Despite all those reports from Portugal saying Fernandez travelled to Argentina with no permission and missed Benfica’s training sessions, Merlo claims the player did have the authorisation from Eagles’ president Rui Costa.
So, in his version, all this transfer situation remains calmer.
This is not the first time the Argentine media claims these are important hours for Fernandez’ move to Chelsea.
On Monday, journalist Gaston Edul also claimed the matter should be resolved ‘in these hours’ as the clubs work on a deal.
That report claimed the midfielder already has a contract agreement with the Blues, and the payment method made by Chelsea is what is being discussed in the current talks.
