Napoli have given up on their move for Alejandro Garnacho after failing to strike an agreement with Manchester United.

That’s according to RAI journalist Ciro Venerato, via Area Napoli, who reports that Napoli have ‘abandoned’ their attempts to sign the Argentine.

“Napoli officially gives up on Garnacho. There is no agreement with Manchester United. Manna turns to other profiles,” he is quoted as saying on the subject.

The belief is that the Italian side have decided to focus on other targets as they continue to seek a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia before the window closes.

Garnacho has been linked throughout the month and a deal seemed likely, with Manchester United open to selling as it would help balance the books, particularly when it comes to PSR.

They, though, had set a €70m asking price on the forward, with Napoli instead looking to get a deal done at around €55m. Negotiations have been ongoing between the two clubs for more than a week to try and get closer on that front.

It was believed that Garnacho was keen on the move and would even put pressure on Manchester United to accept a lower fee so he could move to Naples.

If that was the case it has not been successful as, at least according to Venerato, Napoli have now abandoned the idea of signing him completely.
