Blackburn Rovers scout Piotr Sadowski has backed Zagłębie Lubin’s Marcel Regula to make a switch to the Championship.
Sadowski spent seven years at Manchester United as a scout and left them in August 2024. The Pole returned to England when Blackburn Rovers appointed him as their scout in March.
The Blackburn Rovers official has given an interview to Tomasz Ćwiąkała and Kanał Sportowy relay his comments about Regula.
The attacking midfielder came through the ranks of the Polish club’s youth system. He scored five goals and contributed seven assists from 27 matches, of which four goals and four assists are from this season.

Sadowski has been following the 19-year-old since his time at Manchester United. He’s now backed him to take the next step in his career.
“Regula has the numbers off the ball that would absolutely allow him to join Salzburg, for example, or Scandinavia. I know him very well, having already observed him while working for United’s academy scouting team,” he said.
“Even though he was a late bloomer, so there were some concerns about his development, I always saw his potential. He has great potential, and his off-the-ball statistics are phenomenal.”
“And that’s on a European scale. He’s a great asset, perhaps even in the Championship. Additionally, Salzburg, Scandinavia, Copenhagen, Brøndby, these are the destinations he could go to.”
Another Polish website, Transfery.info, have relayed additional comments from the scout. He said that Blackburn Rovers have tried to sign the Poland U21 international.
According to Sadowski, the Championship side’s plan was to sign the player and send him on loan elsewhere. He hasn’t explained why Blackburn Rovers weren’t able to get the deal for Regula over the line.
“I can say that he was the apple of my eye. I really regret that this player didn’t end up there, but at the time, he would have been a so-called ‘project’,” Sadowski explained.
“He wouldn’t have earned the necessary points to receive a work permit in England and the ability to play immediately.
“Furthermore, Blackburn Rovers didn’t have the option of giving him a ‘wild card’ at the time; a slot that would allow him to play immediately. The idea was to acquire the player and loan him out. He would have developed in a stronger league than the Ekstraklasa and at some point, would have joined Blackburn.”
