The talks between Inter Milan and Manchester United for the transfer of André Onana may be no secret, but that doesn’t mean the Nerazzurri will admit they’re interested in selling him.
Club vice-president Javier Zanetti was today interviewed at the Menarini Fair Play awards in Florence, and TuttoMercatoWeb bring some of his quotes about the transfer market.
Quizzed about Onana’s future, the club chief admitted that Inter Milan may lose him, despite their wish to keep the player in their squad.
“When you have important players it’s normal that there are requests, but for now Onana is one of our players and we hope to keep all the important ones. The transfer market has just begun, anything can change, but Inter have always shown themselves at the top when building important teams.”
Covering reports from the Italian media in the past few days, the claims we see the most are those saying Manchester United are progressing with their efforts to sign the player.
It’s been claimed that on Wednesday morning there were telephone conversations between the clubs, as the Red Devils have pushed forward around €45m and Inter want more.
What seems clear is that Manchester United haven’t given up on the signing yet, and as Inter demand €60m for the sale, they’ll keep holding on until the English club get as close as possible to that amount.
A deal at around €50m looks like the obvious compromise.
