Unable to establish himself at Chelsea despite a £100m+ return to the club, Romelu Lukaku lasted just one season in England before heading back to Italy.

Admittedly, he has only done so temporarily because Inter only struck a loan deal with the Blues, but there is already talk of that being renewed for next season.

His move away from Chelsea allowed him to find once again a team he enjoyed playing in, and that showed early on, as he picked up a goal and an assist in his first three games back with the Serie A side.

He has, however, since been out with an injury, and is currently missing a couple of Belgium games during the international break to focus on his recovery.

This setback has led a few to wonder whether bringing the player back from Chelsea was the right move, but journalist Fabrizio Biasin, speaking to Calciomercato.it, decided to set the record straight.

He said: “Anyone would have done it. You sold him for €100m and took him back for two lire. Only a madman would not have done it.”

During his first year back at Chelsea, Lukaku only managed to find the back of the net 15 times in 44 appearances under Thomas Tuchel, who has since been replaced by Graham Potter.

A stark contrast to his last full season at Inter, where he scored 30 goals and assisted 10 in the same number of games.
