The Italian newspaper explain that, in theory, Rudgier is expected today or tomorrow to have a medical with Chelsea and sign for Antonio Conte’s club.
Different newspapers even within Italy have the transfer at varying stages of being done, and Gazzetta say a deal of €38m, including bonuses, would be on the way to AS Roma should the deal finalise.
However, there have been reports of Manchester City interest, and Gazzetta point out that the player’s agent, also his brother, flying into Manchester and sharing that on Instagram, has encouraged things.
Digging into those claims, Gazzetta say the word from Trigoria (Roma’s base) is that links to Manchester City aren’t credible.
What is ‘certain’ is that Rudiger’s agent is in England, and the player is a ‘step away’ from a Premier League move.
