Since Antonio Conte started being linked to Napoli, the Italian media have been claiming the club could end up being a destination for Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku.
A few Italian clubs have been credited with interested in the striker, and the reunion with the former Blues boss seemed to open a new possibility for him.
Conte was today presented as Napoli’s new manager, and in quotes brought by CalcioMercato.it, he spoke a little about the possibility of landing Lukaku from Chelsea.
“Romelu is a strong player, like Osimhen an excellent footballer, there are no comments to make and you hope to always have them on your side and never against,” said Conte.
Lukaku still has a contract with Chelsea running until 2026, and while the Blues look for a definitive solution for him, they also struggle to get a decent fee for his sale.
The striker just had two loans in a row, first at Inter Milan and then AS Roma, and it seems his Italian adventure could carry on with another club trying to land him.
That can only be good for Chelsea, as despite how complicated the situation looks, there’ll be one more side doing their best to work on a deal for the 31-year-old.
