A week ago the Italian media reported QPR had agreed a deal to sign Gianluca Frabotta from Juventus. It was seen as a sure thing, with the Championship club having to secure a departure before completing the signing.
That took too long and on Monday evening, Gianluca Di Marzio reported West Bromwich Albion had muscled into the situation and snatched the defender away from QPR.
A medical would take place today and everything was speeding to completion. Now, the same Italian journalist says the medical has been passed and Frabotta has signed his contract with West Brom.
The only thing now missing is the official announcement and unveiling. Confirming what was stated earlier, the Baggies are getting Frabotta on a free transfer, with Juventus set to receive 20% of the proceeds from a future sale.
Francesco Salerno, the player’s agent, travelled with him and has negotiated a three year contract with West Brom.
So, all done, and the announcement should be on the way.
