The Villarreal owned player had been on loan at second division Lugo for the season and clearly impressed. Lugo are receiving compensation of €300k to end the loan early, and Leeds United have committed to pay €10m for Pedraza as long as they get promotion to the Premier League.
Pedraza’s move became increasingly clear on Monday, and there were social media clues to help. The 20 year old attacker followed Leeds United manager Pep Clotet on Twitter, and Clotet returned the follow.
Signing Pedraza is something of a coup for Leeds United, with interest coming also from the Premier League and La Liga.
The structure of the deal means there’s little risk for Leeds other than in the event of promotion, at which time €10m wouldn’t seem like the huge fee it does now for Garry Monk’s side.
