Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca has been dealing with an ankle injury for weeks on loan at Real Betis, with the Spanish side determined to get him back as soon as possible.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the Leeds United loanee missed a second training session of the week and will likely be missing from Friday’s clash with Celta Vigo.
They explain that Manuel Pellegrini is unlikely to be able to rely on Roca for this weekend’s game, with him sitting out of training again with an ankle injury.
They say he’s had ‘ankle problems for weeks’ after picking it up in a clash against Villarreal, missing the last two games and looking likely to miss the weekend as well.
The extent of the injury isn’t made clear, but a third straight absence will surely have ears pricking up at Leeds.
They’re still waiting for Betis to make a decision on Roca, who has been a key player for them this season and made it clear he would like to remain in Seville long-term.
Betis are yet to commit to a deal, though, with numerous reports making it clear they’re still thinking it over and debating whether they want to spend the money required to get him from Leeds.
The big concerns for those in charge at Elland Road would be that they don’t want him but run him into the ground and send him back to England with an ankle injury they’d have to deal with.
There’s also the potential for Betis to look at this injury and try to use it to bring Roca’s asking price down, which we absolutely wouldn’t be surprised about as everyone in Sevillian football seems to determined to do everything on the cheap at this moment in time.
