Since Carlo Ancelotti walked out on Everton to return to Real Madrid, there’s been endless claims about the future of James Rodriguez.

The Colombian almost certainly joined the Toffees because his favoured manager was in charge at Goodison Park, so Ancelotti’s exit has seen claims that James could be following the Italian out the door.

That isn’t too outlandish, the player is going through a difficult moment in his career right now, being left out of Colombia’s Copa America squad and making his anger about that clear.

Should the 29-year-old want to leave Costa del Crosby for mainland Europe this summer then it wouldn’t be a huge surprise. There’s been claims that Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, has been offering his client to other clubs.

AC Milan has been named as one of those sides, and Ancelotti has subsequently been asked about the situation.

In an interview with Il Giornale, in which Everton wasn’t mentioned once, the manager was asked to judge James, with it being presented as fact that Milan have been given the chance to sign him.

Ancelotti sat on the fence: “A very pure talent, a great player. He had some physical problems and his contribution to the cause was therefore reduced.”

As for Euro 2020, Uncle Carlo stands by his prediction of a final between Italy and England, and says that’s what he wants.
