With Carlo Ancelotti seemingly on his way to Everton, it won’t be long before the transfer rumours for January start to take shape.
Everton were already likely to be busy in the transfer window as it was, with a squad depleted by injuries and a disappointing season to try and rectify.
Indeed, we’ve already seen a suggestion that Ancelotti could try and tempt Zlatan Ibrahimović to link up with him at Goodison Park and Calciomercato.it have thrown another name into the pot; Alessandro Florenzi.
The website reports that Ancelotti could ‘look’ in Serie A for signings and the Roma man is one who ‘could interest’ the Italian.
He’s out of favour at Roma at present, and they would be open to letting him go out on loan with a ‘right to redemption’ set at €18m.
Napoli were keen on the right-back in the summer, and the suggestion is that Ancelotti could retain that interest and look to take him to Goodison Park.
The right-back position is something of a problem one at Everton, with Seamus Coleman getting older and the current loanee Djibril Sidibé yet to completely impress.
Like the Ibrahimović rumours, though, this seems like not more than speculation at this point given Ancelotti isn’t even through the door yet.
Just because Ancelotti wanted Florenzi before doesn’t mean he would still want him at Everton, especially as they have more pressing issues to deal with than at right-back at present.
