Since making his debut for Lille in 2017, Boubakary Soumare has made 32 appearances in the league, which includes eight starts.

The 20-year-old’s performance for the Ligue 1 club has drawn attention from several others, including Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Two days ago, we carried a report from L’Equipe, who claimed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side submitted a €40m bid for the defensive midfielder. However, the player turned down an opportunity to make a switch to Molineux.

According to Le10 Sport, Lille received an offer of around €40m for Soumare, but it was not from the Wanderers. However, they do state that Wolves have been interested in the midfielder.

The ‘big offer’ Lille received for the Frenchman was from an unnamed club. The idea was to agree for a deal for Soumare and allow him to return to Lille on a season-long loan deal.

Le10 Sport state that clubs in Spain, Italy and Germany could still make an approach for Soumare before the window closes. However, Lille can stall his sale so that he can be sold to an English club in 2020.
