Over the years, various clubs from the Premier League have taken an interest in Nicolo Zaniolo, with some even coming relatively close to signing him.
None have managed it to date, however, as the player has remained at AS Roma, but that could change with Newcastle now allegedly joining the mix.
That’s according to Radio Radio’s Ilario di Giovambattista, who pushes the idea that the Serie A club will end up selling the playmaker going forward.
That’s were Newcastle apparently come in, with it said the Magpies have been after the 23-year-old ‘for a few months’.
The fact that Eddie Howe’s team are ‘growing rapidly’ certainly helps them for future endeavours, and the journalist explained how Zaniolo could end up viewing a potential move to St James’ Park.
He said: “Newcastle’s project is very ambitious. They spent almost €70m on Alexander Isak. They stole Botman from Milan and are fighting for the Champions League. Therefore, Zaniolo should also think about it from both an economic point of view, but also from a sporting perspective.”
While there are clubs in Italy who would welcome the international, Di Giovambattista believes the player “should move away” from his home country due to the press surrounding him.
Whether Newcastle do turn this reported interest into something new remains to be seen, but Radio Radio appear convinced that they are in the mix for Zaniolo.
