On May 17th, Il Secolo XIX reported Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani is ready to make an offer for Italian side Sampdoria. It was also stated he needs about €90m to secure the deal, when debts and working capital are taken into account.

Two days later, the same outlet explained that the solution presented by Radrizzani for the Italian club is in line with the requirements set by creditors, mainly the banks. The report also added the financial part of the agreement was considered ‘insufficient’.

During an interview with Il Secolo XIX, relayed by SampNews24, the Leeds chief has now confirmed he’s presented the project to the Sampdoria board.

“We came to Genoa above all to get to know the board of directors, to introduce ourselves to them as professionals and to talk about our background in sport and the media. Then explain our project, or rather our industrial plan for Sampdoria,” he said.

“We are ambitious. Aware of the history, culture, brand of this company. And of the passion and strength of its fans, who constitute a heritage of great value.

“We wanted to get to know these structures, there is so much to do, but there is also so much quality.”

The 48-year-old further stressed he’d made a new offer with different terms and is also in talks with other investors to join him in taking over the Italian club.

“Our second proposal is structured differently, in terms of financing terms. I also confirm that I am in contact with a series of investors potentially interested in joining our group, to make our plan for Sampdoria even more competitive,” Radrizzani explained.

Having made a second offer, the Leeds owner is keen to get things over the line soon. He’s now waiting for a response to see if his interest to invest in Sampdoria would go through.

“We are trying to speed up as much as possible. We have presented the proposal, now we await an answer in the next few hours,” he stressed.
