Brentford star Michael Kayode has admitted it is “always a pleasure” to see his name linked with Juventus and other big Italian sides.
Firenze Viola report comments from the 21-year-old today made in an interview with Tuttosport. It seems he has no interest in a return to Italy at present.
Key player for Brentford
Michael Kayode has been impressing at Brentford since joining them on loan from Fiorentina in the January transfer window last year.
That deal was initially until the end of the season but his impressive performances for the Bees meant they didn’t hesitate to spend €17.5m to make the move a permanent one in the summer.
That has proven to be another smart piece of business by the club. Kayode is now the undisputed starter at right-back and one of the stars of an impressive season which could end up with Brentford in Europe.
The defender has played in 95% of the available minutes in the Premier League this season. And he’s featured in the starting XI 97% of the time as well. He has one goal and one assist in 35 games to date.
Premier League specialist
He has also become the Premier League’s long-throw specialist, holding the record for the longer at 65.4m. All of this has not gone unnoticed back in Italy.
Various reports in the country have indicated that the likes of Juventus have a keen eye on the 21-year-old.
He’s flattered by those types of reports but insists that Brentford are his main priority right now.
“Honestly, I’m not thinking about returning to Italy,” he said when asked about his future.
“I just want to do well, improve here at Brentford, and grow further at this club. Obviously, Juve’s attention, like that of any top club, is always nice, but I’m very focused on the end of the season.”
