With four goals in 12 games for Arsenal in all competitions so far this season, Leandro Trossard is certainly a player who makes an impact at the Emirates.
He has done so often from the bench, coming into games with a fresh pair of legs and giving it his all when called upon by Mikel Arteta.
While that isn’t everyone’s dream as a footballer, it’s a situation he has had to adapt to and seems fairly pleased to be fulfilling for the time being, as explained by journalist Thomas Chatelle for DH in Belgium.
The pundit spent some time discussing the Arsenal forward, who only played nine minutes in the recent Champions League game against Sevilla, and was full of praise for the Belgian’s attitude.
Chatelle didn’t stop there, either, recalling how Trossard’s path to Arsenal via Genk, and making it clear it was this attitude that got him to where he is today.
He added: “His story is almost a miracle. He started at Lommel, they didn’t want him anymore at Genk and he was loaned to OHL. It’s only later that he really broke through and exploded when he returned to Genk, but he did so late. It’s already incredible that he’s reached this level, because there are very few profiles like him in modern football.”
Capable of playing on the wing for Arsenal, as well as through the middle, Trossard has become something of a utility player for the Gunners, which he appears to have accepted and Arteta is delighted to have at his disposal.
