After a summer making himself clear via statement, Alexander Isak has suddenly been struck mute after securing his big move to Liverpool.
Yep, that’s right, apparently Isak has absolutely nothing to say to anybody now that he’s gotten what he wanted.
Fotboll Skanalen explain the situation today, reporting that Isak has elected to snub all media duties right now with Sweden.
The striker is a part of the Sweden squad for their fixtures against Slovenia and Kosovo in World Cup qualifying, despite not having had any sort of pre-season to date, bar a nice holiday to visit his old pals at Real Sociedad.
The focus is all on him, of course, after he went on strike for the summer to force through a move to Liverpool. He eventually got his wish on deadline day.
That came after the aforementioned strike and various words insisting he wanted to leave and talking about broken promises and various other reasons he had to depart.
Now it appears he has nothing more to say on the matter, as he’s decided to snub all media ahead of Sweden’s clash with Slovenia.
“Alexander will not do any media ahead of the match against Slovenia,” said press officer Petra Thorén.
“We are in dialogue with Alexander on this issue. But given the circumstances of his coming in late on Monday, it’s not long until the World Cup qualifiers, he wants to focus on preparations and getting started properly and preparing for the matches”
When asked if Isak will speak later during the break, Thorén said: “I don’t guarantee that he will be available to the media at any time during this period. But I also don’t rule out that it could be that way. We’re taking it day by day. It’s an ongoing dialogue. Alex’s focus and desire right now is to put all his energy into preparations for the matches.”
