On Wednesday, we covered claims from Spain that explained Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany has informed Joan Laporta he wants to join Aston Villa.
The La Liga side have confirmed their chief will leave the club on June 30th and the Villans are set to be his next destination.
Although the 60-year-old’s move to Aston Villa hasn’t been made official yet, he seems to have started to plan their summer business. That’s at least what Fichajes.net are reporting.
It’s claimed Alemany has ‘recommended’ Unai Emery’s side to sign Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessié, and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams in the summer.
The former two arrived at the Camp Nou as free agents last summer. The 27-year-old centre-back has been a regular and has impressed for Xavi Hernández’s side this season.
Aston Villa failed to sign Williams in January and earlier report stated that they would try again to sign the 20-year-old again in the summer.
Fichajes.net state his ability to play on both wings and profile could make the attacker an ‘invaluable player’ for Emery’s side, if they end up securing his services. These are the three names that are ‘on the table of the Spanish coach’ at Aston Villa.
Alemany’s recommendation to sign these three players is a ‘clear sign’ that Aston Villa are looking to ‘build a powerful and competitive team’ next season. Emery could take advice of the incoming chief to help the club take the next step.
There’s no mention whether Aston Villa will take it into consideration or if any of the three players are open to making a switch to Villa Park in the summer, but this is what the chief has in mind for the time being.
