Earlier on Monday, we covered a story regarding how Barcelona, now given the green light to sign a player as an emergency outside the transfer window, were looking at Leganés’ Martin Braithwaite.

The forward only left Middlesbrough in the summer after the La Liga side made his loan deal permanent, and quickly became one of their more important players.

Sport in Spain have an update on the situation a couple of hours after AS’ article, explaining that there is ‘certain nervousness’ at Leganés regarding their star player’s future at the club.

They aren’t aware of an offer coming their way from Barcelona and will, regardless of the situation, point at his €20m release clause should the Catalans come knocking.

‘Alarm bells’ are said to be ringing, as this would be the second time in a year they would lose a player without their having anything to say about it after Sevilla triggered Youssef En-Nesyri’s identical €20m clause.

Leganés are reportedly ‘scared’ that Barcelona will just come in and take away their ‘best player’, and while the relationship between the two sides is ‘very good’, they are simply hoping Quique Setién turns his attention elsewhere to replace Ousmane Dembélé.
