Al-Ahli’s management’s refusal to pay Matthias Jaissle’s salary in full in the event of a dismissal led to his resignation at the club, as he closes in on a move to Newcastle United.

Sport Witness covered reports earlier today explaining that Matthias Jaissle had handed in his resignation to Al-Ahli after receiving an offer from Newcastle United. The Magpies confirmed Howe’s departure earlier today.
Arriyadiyah now report that Al-Ahli’s management refused to agree to a condition set by the German coach, requiring the payment of his full salary in the even of a dismissal. That was one of the conditions he wanted before signing a new contract.
Their refusal to include that led to his resignation. A source for the outlet explained that negotiations over a renewal failed after he insisted on the specific clause in the new agreement. He had already shown an inclination to return to Europe.
Contract disagreement
The soon-to-be Newcastle United manager had also agreed not to increase his annual salary. However, Al-Ahli’s management would not accept the condition regarding the full payout. Al-Ahli’s management had insisted that compensation in the event of an early termination be limited to six months salary. Jaissle also rejected this proposal.
A final meeting took place during the team’s overseas training camp in Portugal, but the two parties failed to reach an agreement.
A delegation from the club was at that meeting but returned to Saudi Arabia. Upon their return, Jaissle submitted his resignation and did not travel to Jeddah. Now he appears destined to head to England with Newcastle United.
A report earlier today stated that the Magpies were set to pay around €13m to secure his signature. Now the details behind his exit from Saudi Arabia are becoming clearer, that deal might be short in finalising.
