Genoa are accelerating their efforts to strengthen their squad this month and now have an agreement in place to sign Sheffield United’s Nils Zätterström.

That’s according to TeleNord, a news source local to the Serie A club. The Italian side are pushing the deal for the Sheffield United defender over the line, and are close getting their way.

Zätterström has been linked with a move to the Serie A club for days and a deal is now expected to be announced. An agreement is in place between the two sides, which means a medical and announcement can’t be far away either.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio on Thursday afternoon, medical tests are expected in the next few hours. Those tests are set to take place in the Italy city, so the Sheffield United player must have travelled/

A report yesterday explained that Zätterström was the subject of a first bid from Genoa. They ere making a full effort for the defender and expected to get him at some point soon.

Excellent opportunity for Sheffield United player

Sheffield United do not appear to be interested in blocking the move. The centre-back has not played for the Blades since joining in the summer. He is clearly not a part of their core plans. That has, presumably, helped negotiations to progress quickly.

Genoa are certainly confident and the deal, whatever that may be, is expected to be announced sooner rather than later. For the player it’s a fortunate transfer given his struggles in Yorkshire this season and he now needs to make the most of it.
